About Wendy

Overview Originally from Chicago, Wendy has achieved career positions including HMO Director in Washington, DC; Financial Analyst at Westinghouse in South Carolina; and Entrepreneur for creating Solutions Consulting as a Certified Technical Writer, Tester, and Trainer in Virginia—and completely careened her life into disability from the stress. While figuring out solutions to some illnesses, she was featured in Petaluma's Argus-Courier newspaper for the unique art therapy she created; she has had five juried gallery shows. As an Event Planner, she spread joy as a Professional Mermaid, Princess, and Faerie in her 50s. Wendy is a Master Scuba Diver, Third Degree Reiki Practitioner, and a dancer since age two. Reveling in the feeling of freedom experienced by transforming life's challenges into happy and healthy choices, she continues to work on solving chronic illnesses including fibromyalgia. Currently studying to be a Certified Entheogen Integrationist, she has experienced ayahuasca ceremony healings from Peru in 2014 and Costa Rica in 2019. She lives in California with her dear Mom who has cancer and other health challenges, and with Wendy’s mermaid buddies—a betta fish named AlphaTheBetta and a water garden with a Ramshorn snail family of four generations from just two snails named Namaste and Nahmahgo.
International Bestselling Author (2020) The Ignite Your Health & Wellness book went international bestseller in 11 countries and 22 categories within 3 days in 2020. In this book, Wendy transparently shares how she reduced a sudden 35-pound weight gain and resolved other menopausal issues that most people don't talk about. After years of research, myriad different types of medical professionals, and countless programs, she was able to titrate off pharmaceutical prescriptions she'd been on for decades for insomnia and bipolar.
A Former Life in Financial Analysis (1980 – 1997) Focusing on communication in the financial world, Wendy attained a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Financial Management from Augusta State University in Georgia. Additionally, she’s achieved a certificate in Technical Communication from Rochester Institute of Technology. Interestingly, she evolved into being the one who volunteered to interface with developers whenever her employers throughout the years purchased new software. She even penned an article about software that was published way back in 1988 in the Journal of Property Management. But after working as a director at an HMO (after 16 years in the work world in myriad industries), she had an epiphany—that the performing of financial analysis (that is, her usual work duties at the time) was just simply getting in the way of what she was truly enjoying (documentation, testing, and training of software).
The Next Life Chapter: Tech Writer (1997 – 2004) Wendy became Founder/Owner/President/Principal Consultant/Bottle Washer/et al. for her own business entitled Solutions Consulting. Her main projects were for clients including 25 states that received federal block grants, as well as CompUSA. One of her clients, MainControl (bought by MRO Software and later by IBM), managed to woo her to leave her startup company and become their employee to author software user guides for its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) product suite used by international clients. Wendy later thoroughly delighted in her position as Senior Technical Writer at webMethods (now Software AG) where she created software documentation for intelligent integration adapters used within (enterprise) and between (B2B) backend systems such as ClarifyCRM and Enterprise JavaBeans by over 900 of the Global 2000 customers—while working 70 hour work weeks and studying for her MBA.
A Great Adventure (2004 and beyond) In 2004, Wendy was asked to take a one week-long sabbatical, where she intensely focused on striving to solve health symptoms to quickly return to work. However, she’s still on that healing journey spending most of her day on self-care. She’s overcome bipolar challenges that began in 2007 and burn scar issues in 2009. She greatly treasures finding joy in life every day. As part of her art therapy, she enjoys photographing the beauty that's all around us. Some photos have been published including Orange Jellies! and Swing Amongst the Buttercups. Other than the sheer beauty of art, the thing that is so glorious about creating art pieces is the inspiration and story behind them. She later expanded to experiment with acrylic paint, watercolor, and mixed media to communicate ideas beyond the photography medium. Since then, she’s created mermaid shell crowns, floral crowns, floral hats, unique painted birdhouses, fused glass jewelry, beaded jewelry, and refinished outdoor garden statues. To see her portfolio of most of this artistry as well as her costumed characters, see TranscendentalArtExperiences and DuchessMermaid on Instagram. Called to contribute to her community, she was a board member of her homeowners’ association in Virginia and California. She has also enjoyed tutoring Spanish-speaking English-as-Second-Language (ESL) adult students, and helping professionals over 40 discover new careers at higher salaries sooner.
